Proposal to document Commons Camp Marseille

How we usually work

• We identify what documentation we want to extract from the event
• We prepare the collaborative writing document to gather structured information
• We coordinate the facilitation of the sessions so that they go according to the documentation that needs to be collected
• We involve the attendees in the documentation process, we try to get as much information as possible in digital format during the session
• We do a subsequent review and make the bot go through to transfer the structured information onto the wiki

Exemple

We'll use a "Sharing Cities Summit" 2018 in Barcelona, as an example.

• We used this structured note-taking pad (note that the pad is structured into sections where keywords, organisations and projects mentioned are included; also major public policy challenges, opportunities and proposals; there is also the "conference notes" section, which contains notes from the meeting)

• After the session, the contents of these sections are automatically extracted and introduced as values into the fields in the this session in the wiki tab; the rest of the notes are also copied. The fields in the tab correspond to semantic properties, and this allows queries to retrieve pooled information from multiple sessions.

• The page Share Barcelona 2018 groups information for all sessions. You can see all the organisations and projects mentioned, keywords that define the topics covered (as links that allow us to see what other events have been treated) and a three column with the results extracted from each session and grouped together (challenges, opportunities and proposals).

For the Commons Camp in Marseille we propose the following structure to collect information:

Documentation of replicable or adaptable experiences

• Geographic reach (neighborhood, population, territory, ...)

• Commons at stake: natural, rural, urban, knowledge, technology; emerging, threatened, consolidated
• Commons qualities: self-management, co-governance, co-production, shared / open, sustainable

Documentation of concepts about the commons

Proposal of activity (plenary or initial time in each session) to share the meanings and connotations of words and concepts in the semantic field of commons in different languages. Words are physically put in the center of a circle, hung on a wall or strung on a thread. Someone takes a word and explains it, explains the context of the language, if it is a new or old word, how it is used and what translations it can have into other languages. Short comments can be admitted below. Example words: commun (fr), procomún (es), ejído (es), empriu (ca), commons (en)
