El Popathon és un hackaton per a professionals de l’àmbit audiovisual que volen experimentar amb els formats transmèdia i els webdocs. Es fa dins la secció InterDocs del festival Docs Barcelona. S'hi poden inscriure equips d'entre 3 i 6 persones amb un dissenyador i un desenvolupador mínim, o persones individuals a les quals se'ls assigna un grup. La inscripció costa 22€.

Hi ha premi per la millor proposta i consisteix en llicències Github Silver Plan o Klynt, per a cada membre de l’equip i la presentació del projecte a l’InterDocs 2017.
“… What?
We invite media makers, technologists and designers to prototype documentary storytelling projects that can only exist on the web. For 24 hours you will team up to brainstorm ideas, create open-source code and demo prototypes of our own web-native stories. This edition is part of InterDocs, the interactive and transmedia documentary conference at DocsBarcelona.
Why?
Visual storytelling has been with us since the beginning of times. Through the ages the way we tell stories has changed along with the evolution of different media. The capability of the web enables stories to be interactive, dynamic and participatory, allowing for engaging experiences around them. While this is hugely exciting, we believe a language of web-native storytelling is still developing and want to help that process along by hands-on experimentation.
How?
Participants sign up as a team of 3 to 6 people with at least one designer and one technologist. First create a team. You can then choose 'manage your team' to edit your team page and invite others to join your team.
You can also sign up individually and we will do our best to match you with amazing team members based on your profile. We can't guarantee that we'll match all individual profiles so finding yourself a diverse team in advance will give you the best chance for participation!
We encourage bringing ideas and content for projects you have in mind or in production.
After the final sprint all prototypes are presented in a live demo and all the source code powering the projects will be made available open source for others to study and build on beyond the event.
Bring whatever you'll need to hack with. Charged laptops with production software and external drives with footage or have everything online. Also bring headphones, as you'll be working in a shared space. We provide a good WiFi connection.
