Several examples of initiatives based in cities:

Vienna (Austria) - collaboration with the government who gave for free all their databases Wikimedia Austria putting them to wikidata and finding ways to bound all this info within and related to wikipedia

City of Puebla (Mexico) - collab with the city government in the frame of Wikilovesmonuments through editathons along the city of puebla to document historical resources in Spanish Wikipedia

Monmouth (Wales) - with PA organized a context to document absolutely everything relevant to the city: people, monuments, name of the streets

Stockholm (Sweden) - collab with city government sponsored editathons

Donostia (Basque country) - created an hotline about monuments and streets in the city particularly for touristic purposes to provide info about the city resources; wikipedia in Basque language.

Montevideo (Uruguai) - in the women's day, the city government sponsored a edit-a-thon so that every street that has a name of a woman, would be in wikipedia. The city provided an open database of the names of all the streets.

Bhubaneswar - also the government collaborated to open up every info about the city

Sao paulo, Toodyay (Australia), La Paz (Bolivia) - collaboration between city council and Wikimedia Foundation to support the upload of info about their cities
